AEROSMITH's TYLER: 'Good Music Is Like Good Sex'
May 20, 2003The Boston Herald reports that AEROSMITH guitarist Joe Perry took a break from recording the group's latest — a blues record due out in September — to throw a private party Saturday night at the House of Blues in Cambridge. The event, to introduce Gibson Guitar's new "Joe Perry Signature" ax, was packed with Perry's friends, family, and famous bandmates — Steven Tyler, Brad Whitford, Tom Hamilton, and Joey Kramer all showed up. Perry, wearing a fedora and smoking a cigar, said he'll donate several of the custom-made guitars to local schools. Of AEROSMITH's summer tour with KISS — the tour kicks off Aug. 2 in Hartford and stops at the Tweeter Center Aug. 25 and 27 — Tyler said it should fun: "Hey, HENDRIX toured with THE MONKEES and it didn't seem to hurt him." Technically, the bands are co-headlining, but Tyler said AEROSMITH will be closing all of the shows. "I look at it this way," he said. "Good music is like good sex, it starts with a little foreplay ... a little kiss."
