ALICE COOPER: 'Reality Is More Shocking Than Fantasy'
June 27, 2007United Press International reports that Alice Cooper and Marilyn Manson will perform together at the same concert for the first time ever Sunday (July 1) at B'Estival in Bucharest, Romania.
Cooper and Manson are widely known for shocking their audiences.
Cooper, in a recent interview with Cristi Stanciu, host of a popular Romanian radio show on HotNews.ro, said his band "created shock," but it's hard to shock an audience anymore.
"It's because of television and news," he said. "Reality is more shocking than fantasy."
Cooper says Manson's band re-created shock for another generation. "He's more industrial; we're rather in the classic hard rock," Cooper said.
Cooper said during the interview his own radio show ("Nights with Alice Cooper") market share has grown from five stations to 110. He said he thinks his own show is popular because he plays little-known selections from famous groups. He also tells stories about the famous people he knew personally, such as Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, Paul Butterfield and Frank Zappa.
