ALICE IN CHAINS Releases Lyric Video For 'Rainier Fog' Title Track
February 26, 2019ALICE IN CHAINS has released the official lyric video for the title track of its latest album, 2018's "Rainier Fog".
Guitarist/singer Jerry Cantrell told Rolling Stone that the tune is a tribute to the Seattle music scene that launched his band, SOUNDGARDEN, NIRVANA, PEARL JAM and others. He explained: "This song is a little homage to all of that: where we come from, who we are, all of the triumphs, all of the tragedies, lives lived."
Speaking about the deaths of Seattle musicians like Kurt Cobain, ALICE IN CHAINS singer Layne Staley and, more recently, Chris Cornell, Cantrell said: "It's a small town and we all knew each other... It gets really difficult to be the guy that has to talk about your dead friends all the time." He added: "After 15 years of talking about my friends dying, you just really want to focus on life and moving forward because that's really all I can control. I miss the hell out of all of them."
"Rainier Fog" is named after Seattle's Mount Rainer and is the first album the band has recorded in its hometown in more than 20 years.
Cantrell recorded the demo for the title track with the help of Seattle native Duff McKagan. "He loved that riff," Cantrell said of the GUNS N' ROSES bassist.
ALICE IN CHAINS and KORN will embark on an epic co-headline amphitheater tour across North America this summer. UNDEROATH will join as special guest on all dates, with HO99O9 and FEVER 333 opening on select dates. Produced by Live Nation, the 30-city outing will kick off July 18 in Del Valle, Texas at Austin360 Amphitheatre and make stops in Dallas, Nashville, Toronto, Denver and more before wrapping September 4 in Mountain View, California at Shoreline Amphitheatre.
