ANCIENT Complete Work On 'Night Visit'
February 22, 2004Norwegian cult extreme metal band ANCIENT have completed work on their sixth album, "Night Visit", tentatively due on June 1 through Metal Blade Records.
The follow-up to 2001's "Proxima Centauri" was recorded at Mirage and Alpha-Omega studios and was mixed at Studio Fredman in Gothenburg, Sweden with producer Fredrik Nordström (HAMMERFALL, IN FLAMES, DIMMU BORGIR, SPIRITUAL BEGGARS, etc.). Mastering will be done at Sterling Sound in New York City in early March. A special limited edition of the album will be released including an uncensored version of the "Night Visit" video.
The lineup on the album is the same as that on "Proxima Centauri" apart from Deadly Kristin, who is no longer in the band due to "practical reasons" (she is said to be living in Sweden at the moment). Former ANCIENT singer Kaiaphas makes a guest appearance on one track on the album.
According to a posting on ANCIENT's web site, "the band has been focusing more on dynamics and power this time, in order to make it an album very catchy and interesting, yet keeping the roots of the typical ANCIENT sound we all know. As usual the songs are all rather diverse, resulting in an album to not be bored of easily."
