Arrests Made In Theft Of Hard Rock Memorabilia
April 17, 2004A former radio station employee, his girlfriend and her brother were arrested Friday, accused of breaking into the radio station and stealing $30,000 of music and sports memorabilia, including autographed guitars from KORN, DEF LEPPARD and KISS, as well as drum heads from METALLICA, LINKIN PARK and RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS, according to Tampa Bay Online.
Charged were Damien Michael Fritz, 28, who was formerly the head of the intern program at 98 Rock, his girlfriend, Michelle R. Flores, 22, and her brother, Robert Curtis Flores, 19.
Tampa police Detective Peter Olinski told Tampa Bay Online that Fritz kept an intern's security swipe key after Fritz quit and used it to get in the nights of March 25 and April 8, when the memorabilia was stolen.
The autographed memorabilia was signed by celebrities who had come through Tampa and was destined for an annual auction held by 98 Rock to benefit The Children's Home, said the station's promotions manager, Mike Oliviero.
