AS I LAY DYING's NICK HIPA Interviewed By GEORGE LYNCH (Video)

February 12, 2014

Legendary axeman George Lynch (DOKKEN, LYNCH MOB) conducted an interview with guitarist Nick Hipa of San Diego, California metallers AS I LAY DYING at this year's NAMM (National Association Of Music Merchants) show, which took place January 23-26 at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, California. You can now watch the chat below (courtesy of Dangerous Guitar).

AS I LAY DYING frontman Tim Lambesis is expected to stand trial later this year on charges he tried to hire someone to kill his estranged wife.

Lambesis' defense attorney, Tom Warwick, blamed the singer's steroid use for the alleged murder-for-hire plot. He also revealed that the musician was going through steroid withdrawal while in custody.

Prosecutors allege Lambesis had twice told a man at a gym that he wanted his wife killed, then met with an undercover detective known as "Red", and gave the agent an envelope containing $1,000 in cash, photographs of his wife, and the security gate code to her house. He also allegedly told the agent the dates he would be with the couple's three adopted children, in order to give himself an alibi.

AS I LAY DYING's sixth album, "Awakened", sold around 28,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to land at position No. 11 on The Billboard 200 chart. Released in September 2012 via Metal Blade Records, the CD was produced by Bill Stevenson, who has played drums for both the DESCENDENTS and BLACK FLAG. His production credits include work on records by RISE AGAINST, NOFX, PROPAGANDHI, THE CASUALTIES, ANTI-FLAG and many more. The album was mixed by Colin Richardson (MACHINE HEAD, NAPALM DEATH, SLIPKNOT).
