AVENGED SEVENFOLD Is 'Really Focused On New Material'; No Live Shows Planned Before 2020
March 7, 2019AVENGED SEVENFOLD will reportedly take 2019 off from touring and will return to the road next year.
The news of the California band's live inactivity was broken by radio host Lou Brutus, who posted on Instagram that he was in contact with guitarist Zacky Vengeance and got an update on the group's current plans. "Was just texting with Zacky Vengeance and asked him about AVENGED SEVENFOLD touring," Lou wrote. "He told me, 'I don't think we will be doing any touring this year. Got some new babies on the way and are starting to get really focused on new material. I never deal in absolutes, but right now it's leaning heavily towards 2020.' While I'm bummed about no touring for awhile, I'm very happy for their family additions and eventual new music. Excelsior."
AVENGED SEVENFOLD hasn't performed in almost a year, ever since a blood blister on singer M. Shadows's vocal cords forced the band to cancel a summer 2018 tour with PROPHETS OF RAGE and THREE DAYS GRACE.
Last September, AVENGED SEVENFOLD released a new song called "Mad Hatter". The track was recorded for the "Call Of Duty: Black Ops 4" video game and was included on AVENGED SEVENFOLD's "Black Reign" EP. The effort contains all four songs the band has written and recorded for the "Call Of Duty: Black Ops" franchise.
"Mad Hatter" was the first original material AVENGED SEVENFOLD has released since 2017's "Dose", which originally surfaced in the Gameloft mobile game "Dungeon Hunter 5". It later appeared on the "deluxe edition" 2017 reissue of the group's 2016 studio album "The Stage".
