Bassist RUDY SARZO: I Am Not Leaving DIO
April 12, 2005Bassist Rudy Sarzo, who has played with such hard rock heavyweights as WHITESNAKE, OZZY OSBOURNE, QUIET RIOT and YNGWIE MALMSTEEN, has shot down rumors that he may be leaving DIO in order rejoin WHITESNAKE as the replacement for the recently departed Marco Mendoza. In a statement posted on DioMessagebBoard.com, Sarzo writes, "I have no plans of leaving the DIO wonderful family for any reason. I look forward to being a member of the band for as long as Ronnie, Wendy, Goldy, Simon and Scott allow me the privilege. Hope to see all of you this year at a DIO show."
As previously reported, Sarzo is scheduled to publish a book in September containing a first-person account from his personal day-by-day diary of events while touring with Ozzy Osbourne and Randy Rhoads in the early Eighties. Entitled "Off the Rails - My Adventures in the Land of Ozz", the book is being decribed as an animated, often hilarious tale which includes all of Ozzy's antics as seen from inside the band. It is also an in-depth and personal look into the guitar greatness of Rudy's good friend, the guitarist Randy Rhoads, who died tragically in a airplane accident while on tour with the band. There are also plenty of never-before-seen photos of Randy, Ozzy and Sharon that come from Rudy's snapshots of the tour.
"Off the Rails - My Adventures in the Land of Ozz" will be published by Cherry Lane Music, and will be released on September 15, 2005. It will list for $17.95.
