BEHEMOTH's NERGAL: First Taste Of Forthcoming Acoustic Project?
March 27, 2015In a recent interview with the Broward Palm Beach New Times, guitarist/vocalist Adam "Nergal" Darski of Polish extreme metallers BEHEMOTH revealed that he was working on a solo project which he described as "very stripped down and simple. The most primitive, acoustic-based stuff. That's what I'm really into."
He added: "I'm always creating. I always do stuff on the side, and some of it's not suitable for BEHEMOTH, and I've got some other projects that will eventually see the light of day. Or not. Nothing is for certain! [laughs]"
Nergal has now posted two short video clips of what appears to be the studio sessions for his forthcoming acoustic project. Check them out below.
Nergal also confirmed that there are no immediate plans for BEHEMOTH to return to the studio to record the follow-up to 2014's "The Satanist".
"Like anything, I think the future is good with thrills and... options," he said. "I'm not really counting on my future further than the touring cycle goes these days. That's really it. We're going to surprise people with some amazing projects in the coming months, but there's no new record in sight, to be honest. I don't know even when or where we'll start working on it — it's in the last position on my list of priorities."
"The Satanist" sold around 10,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 34 on The Billboard 200 chart.
The band's ninth full-length studio CD, 2009's "Evangelion", opened with around 8,500 units to land at No. 56.
The definitive BEHEMOTH biography, "Behemoth: Devil's Conquistadors" by Lukasz Dunaj, was released in February via Metal Blade. The 490-page, hardcover tome includes quotes and anecdotes from current and former members that provide context and details in addition to the author's narrative, plus interviews with Tomas Krajewski, Rob Darken, Graal, Havok, and more. The artistically presented pages are splattered with old photos of the band, flyers, lyric sheets, etc.
