BERNIE TORME Confirmed For Ireland's CLIVEAID Benefit Concert
October 1, 2006GUY-MCCOY-TORME (GMT),featuring Irish guitarist Bernie Torme (GILLAN, OZZY OSBOURNE),has been confirmed for Cliveaid Eire, set to take place December 19 at Radio City in Dulbin, Ireland. Also scheduled to appear are GLYDER, NINETEENTH CENTURY, KRAKÓW, SPEEDKING and STEEL TORMENTOR.
Handling both guitar and vocals, Torme has partnered with his old compadre from GILLAN, bassist John McCoy — who has worked with Joey Belladonna, SAMSON, and the UK SUBS, among others — and drummer Robin Guy (whose credentials include FAITH NO MORE and BRUCE DICKINSON) to form the GMT three-piece nucleus.
Bernie Torme is known for heroically stepping in and saving the day for OZZY OSBOURNE when Randy Rhoads tragically died. He also toured the world as the lead axeman in GILLAN and formed DESPERADO with TWISTED SISTER frontman Dee Snider and ex-IRON MAIDEN drummer Clive Burr, as well as fronting his own bands ELECTRIC GYPSIES and TORME (featuring Phil Lewis of L.A. GUNS/GIRL fame).
Cliveaid was set up in 2004 as a fund-raising event for original IRON MAIDEN drummer Clive Burr, who suffers from multiple sclerosis.
