Black Metallers BALFOR Add Second Guitarist
March 8, 2009Ukrainian black metallers BALFOR have added a second guitarist to their original three-man lineup. Former UNERASE axeman Agnarr has started rehearsing with the band, and, according to vocalist/guitarist Thorgeir, is already up to speed with BALFOR's material. "Agnarr is a highly trained and skilled guitarist, with a real instinct for music, so he got the feel of what we wanted straight away," said the frontman. "When we were recording material for our new album, we realized that the fuller sound we had developed was going to need an additional guitarist in order for us to be able to reproduce it live. It also takes some of the pressure off me on stage. Singing and playing at the same time is one thing, but when you want to give the audience a less static show, and communicate with them at the same time, it doesn't always work too well, so a second guitarist is the perfect solution for us."
BALFOR, which plays what the band describes as "barbaric black metal" that explores themes from their countries' warrior past, has finished recording its full-length debut, "Barbaric Blood", as a follow-up to 2006's "Pure Barbaric" EP, and is currently looking for a label. They also recently a recorded a cover version of SATYRICON's "K.I.N.G." for the "Dominions of Satyricon" tribute CD, released on Empire Records.
"K.I.N.G." plus unmastered tracks from "Barbaric Blood" are currently being streamed on BALFOR's MySpace page.
