BRUTUS To Release 'Murwgebeukt' In July

Dutch death metallers BRUTUS have inked a deal with Unique Leader Records and Deity Down Records for the release of their sophomore album, "Murwgebeukt" (Total Loss). Due on July 20 in Europe via Deity Down in collaboration with Alpha Prime Music and Unique Leader Records in the rest of the world, the CD was recorded with drummer Ploegbaas, who took his own life shortly after the sessions were completed. A song from the album, "Lijdensweg" (Living Hell),is available for streaming on the band's MySpace profile.

Commented Unique Leader in a press release: "At long last... six years after the devastating debut, 'Slachtbeest', comes the highly anticipated new album by Dutch steamroller BRUTUS. Incubating for over four years, 'Murwgebeukt' is the ferocious second album, now taking intensity to an even higher level. 16 tracks, 50 minutes of highly aggressive blast-beat-ridden bottom end brutality. The lyrical concept deals with a man facing life as a debt to death, and is conceived by the band's late drummer, Ploegbaas, who took his own life shortly after drum recordings. The morbid, almost hymnic riffing and hateful outcries are hammered down your throat by the ever-pummeling percussion and will take you through the depths of a burdened man and leave you deprived of joy. Lyrical translations are supplied in a 16-page booklet with sick art by Toshihiro Egawa."

BRUTUS will perform songs from "Murwgebeukt" for the first time at this year's edition of the Wacken Open Air festival, set to take place August 5-7, 2010 in Wacken, Germany.
