BUSH Kicks Off New Season Of 'Guitar Center Sessions' On DirecTV
November 16, 2011Guitar Center, the world's largest retailer of musical instruments and equipment, and DIRECTV, one of the world's leading providers of digital television entertainment services, will spotlight reunited British rock band BUSH in the first of seven new episodes of the award-winning music series Guitar Center Sessions this Saturday, November 19. Guitar Center Sessions features exclusive performances and intimate, enlightening conversations conducted by revered musical tastemaker Nic Harcourt. The episode premieres Saturday, November 19 at 9 p.m. ET/PT in 2D hi-definition on DIRECTV's Audience Network (channel 239) and in 3D on DIRECTV's n3D powered by Panasonic.
An exclusive clip of BUSH's performance of "The Chemicals Between Us" from the episode can be seen below.
In the episode, BUSH's Gavin Rossdale talks to host Nic Harcourt about the band's entire career, including: the influence his super-hip aunt's musical taste (DAVID BOWIE, THE VELVET UNDERGROUND) had on his early listening, spending time at the heavily West Indian Knotting Hill Carnival as a youth, how seeing JANE'S ADDICTION live changed his life, the rocket ride that followed the release of "Sixteen Stone", and why being an independent band at this stage in their career is best for the band.
"BUSH literally burst into the public consciousness as the Alternative Nation was sweeping the U.S.," says Harcourt. "To go from painting dentists offices to sold out shows and multi-platinum records almost overnight is not something most musicians experience. Listening to Gavin talk about how he and the band handled that, and how they continue to evolve and succeed to this day, is riveting and the type of story we want to capture on Guitar Center Sessions."
During the episode, the band tears through an electrifying mix of classic hits and new cuts from "The Sea Of Memories". Performances include "The Sound Of Winter", "The Chemicals Between Us", "Little Things" and more.
Continuing its commitment to inspiring musicians, each episode of Guitar Center Sessions is filmed live in front of a studio audience in the world famous Guitar Center Hollywood Vintage Room. The show gives real music fans a rare peek inside the minds of their idols, with Harcourt's thoughtful, conversational questions drawing out new and intimate details from their storied careers. Audiences hear first-hand accounts from each artist about their personal and musical journeys and the influences that molded them into the icons they have become.
After its series debut, featuring episodes with artists including Peter Gabriel, WEEZER, JANE'S ADDICTION, THE CULT, CAKE and Jakob Dylan, Guitar Center Sessions was the recipient of the International 3D Society's award for Best Music Television Series in 2010.
