"The Current", which is set to appear in the closing credits and marketing campaign for the upcoming "Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines" movie (opening nationwide on July 2),is also on BLUE MAN GROUP's new album, "The Complex", which debuted at #60 on the Billboard charts (Lava Records),tripling opening sales of their 1999 gold-certified album "Audio". In addition to Rossdale, the group's first full-fledged rock album features guest vocalists Dave Matthews, Tracy Bonham, Venus Hum, Esthero and Josh Haden, among others.
In other news, Rossdale has posted the following update to BUSH's official web site:
"You must be thinking, 'What the fuck is happening and where's the new music?' I feel a little bit like that myself. I have been writing and recording and figuring the best way to re-enter the gates of sound. I have recorded 20 songs so far and am continuing to write and figure my best form of attack. I know it seems drawn out and I miss being on tour and playing every night. It suits me. I don't even need that many days off. For at least 15 reasons, I find myself still working in the backroom. There is no danger of me disappearing and not bringing out new music. I guess I am trying to push myself further and evolve and crystallizse. Of course, it's not rocket science but there has been turbulence and along with that some living back in the real world outside of the bubble of BUSH I have been in for quite some time. As it's festival time again, my heart is heavy at the thought of not playing but it's OK, I suppose. It drives me on.
"I go to St. Louis after [Los Angeles] as I have a small role in a movie called 'Game Of Their Lives'. It's a football film and I'm playing an English footballer called Stanley Mortensen. It's set in the 1950s and it's when America had a scratch team playing in the world cup. They beat England 1-0 and never seemed to get the credit for it. So there it is, I'm playing a loser!!! But it's only a film!!! I have one major speech in it and someone calls me an asshole for what I've said. So it's a prestigious start. Pretty funny really. I think it's about two or three weeks split between St. Louis and Rio De Janeiro. It's gonna be interesting seeing what it's like on a film set. Videos feel like a lifetime to me.
"Then July and August I'll be music intensive (thankfully) and hopefully nailing it. The weird part is just not knowing how things will work out. As always I know that the only thing that matters is to make great music. I anticipate great support this time around from those around me. I'm really happy with some of the tracks I've done and just want to get them out and start singing for my supper again."
