CAMP FREDDY In Talks To Release Debut Album

July 25, 2005

CAMP FREDDY — the Los Angeles-based "jam" band consisting of ex-JANE'S ADDICTION/RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS guitarist Dave Navarro, former THE CULT touring bassist Billy Morrison (on guitar),VELVET REVOLVER/ex-GUNS N' ROSES drummer Matt Sorum, and vocalist Donovan Leitch (the son of 1960s U.K. folk-rock icon Donovan) — have begun talking to a few "business types" about the release of their first record, according to a posting on the group's web site, "The band have finished and mixed two tracks, Marc Bolan's '20th Century Boy' (featuring CAMP FREDDY's own Donovan Leitch on vocals, and Steve Jones from THE SEX PISTOLS on lead guitar) and THIN LIZZY's 'Jailbreak' (featuring [ex-ALICE IN CHAINS guitarist] Jerry Cantrell on vocals and Billy Duffy [ex-THE CULT] on lead guitar) and they are currently being played on Indie 103.1 FM. The rest of the album is in various states of completion and the band have begun to talk to a few people about the release of the record. Expect it to be in the early part of 2006."

CAMP FREDDY's debut album is being recorded with producer Mike Clink (GUNS N' ROSES, METALLICA) and is believed to be a collection of covers, featuring guest singers, guitarists and even the odd guest drummer or two (including RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS drummer Chad Smith and singer Macy Gray). An extension of the group's live show, the record is expected to feature 12 songs, the basic tracks for which were recorded last year.

In other news, CAMP FREDDY have posted the following update regarding their June 29, 2005 performance in Northern California:

"On 29th June, Sun Microsystems (the San Francisco-based company that invented the computer language, Java) invited CAMP FREDDY to the Bay Area, to perform at their birthday party celebrations. Guests included Brandon Boyd and Mickey Einziger from INCUBUS, Brett Anderson from THE DONNAS, and the lovely Gina Gershon. Extended CAMP FREDDY family member (pun absolutely intended!) Jerry Cantrell got a little too excited while Gina was performing, and split his leather pants all the way down one leg! Luckily, Mike Bordin (drummer from FAITH NO MORE, SABBATH, and just about every cool rock band ever) came to the rescue and lent Jerry his shorts for the rest of the set. Oh, the stresses of playing rock and roll."
