Candlelight Vigil For SUICIDE SILENCE Singer To Be Held Tonight
November 1, 2012A candlelight vigil for late SUICIDE SILENCE singer Mitch Lucker will be held tonight (Thursday, November 1) at 8 p.m. at Main St. and 12th in Huntington Beach, California. This is open to anyone who would like to stop by and pay their respects.
Lucker died Thursday from injuries he suffered last night when he lost control of his motorcycle in Huntington Beach.
According to the Los Angeles Times, the singer struck a light pole near the intersection of Main and 13th streets and was thrown from his 2013 Harley Davidson. The motorcycle continued sliding south on Main Street and struck a northbound 2007 Nissan Titan pickup.
A month ago, Lucker spoke to Brittany Moseley, associate editor of AltPress.com, about second favorite hobby.
Asked what attracted him to motorcycles, Mitch said, "The danger in it. Being a frontman in a band, you get addicted to adrenaline rushes. When you're onstage, there's not more of a rush. When I get home from touring, I need to find something to match that so I don't get my adrenaline withdrawals. Being exposed to every element of danger while you're sitting on a motor — that, to me, is freedom."
Lucker also said that the was a strong sense of camaraderie among motorcycle riders. "Even if you're just riding on the highway by yourself and someone passes you on a bike going the opposite direction, there's like a 'Hey, what's up?' type of thing that you do no matter who you are," he said. "People in cars don't do that. But motorcycle-to-motorcycle, it's just a common-respect kind of thing. It's kind of a family unit."
