CANNIBAL CORPSE Guitarist Is Surprised By Fans' Reaction To Side-Project
March 2, 2004CANNIBAL CORPSE guitarist Jack Owen says that he was surprised by the reaction the band's fans have had to his side-project ADRIFT. "I thought I was going to be crucified by death metal fans for doing a project that wasn't as heavy as CANNIBAL," he said. "To be honest, the death metal fans that have gone to the web site (www.adrift.cc) and downloaded the songs have had the most positive reaction!
"What I'm trying to do is branch out as an artist. I consider myself well-rounded as a player, and would like to let everyone know that I can play more than 'Hammer-Smashed Face'."
Owen will return home to Tampa in mid-March to film a video for an ADRIFT song entitled "Empty Dreams" that will be made available on the group's web site. "We would like to invite any and all music fans from around the globe to visit the site, check out the songs, and give us your honest opinions," he said. The web site is up and running, and reportedly receiving more hits than it can handle. The band have mentioned merchandise giveaways related to signing the guestbook. "It looks like the band is beyond the side-project phase. We're ready to take off, and do some damage."
