CELTIC FROST: Forging Friendships That Defy Any Description

CELTIC FROST frontman Tom Gabriel Fischer has posted the following message on his official blog:

"What a most peculiar few days, the culmination of which was a shared meal last night at a very exceptional and yet equally peculiar restaurant to celebrate the birthdays of Martin [Ain, bass] and me which are only one day (and some years) apart. It is really a flood of most varied emotions, from jubilant to impassable, we are surmounting at this time. All of us, in one way or another. Last night was no different. Though this condition is anomalous and yet tritely normal at the same time, isn't it? And yet, above everything else stands, for all of us, the joy of playing with this band and the creation of this album. It is addictive, intoxicating, to the extreme.

"In addition to some smaller (and I use the term loosely) birthday gifts, the band gave Martin a 19th century cross featuring Sabaoth and me an Ibanez 'Iceman' guitar. In the context of this new album, Sabaoth has a particular significance, especially to Martin and me. And I was stunned by receiving this guitar, and receiving it utterly, completely unexpectedly. This is a time of radical financial urgency for me, not least because we had, quite some time ago, decided to finance the subsequently unexpectedly protracted gestation of this album entirely from our own funds to prevent events such as those that have haunted the creation of most of our past albums. I am in the process of selling my last belongings of any value, including my beloved back-up guitars. And now there's the band, giving me not only a much needed guitar, but the very type of guitar which signified the birth of CELTIC FROST in June 1984 and which made the sound of albums such as 'Morbid Tales' and 'To Mega Therion' possible.

"Through oceans of wildly uncontained creativity and the typically ferocious album evolution of alternating exuberance and disagreements, we have forged an intense relationship with each other within this band. These are friendships which defy any description."

As BLABBERMOUTH.NET first reported on June 16, CELTIC FROST have selected HYPOCRISY/PAIN mainman Peter Tägtgren to co-produce their long-awaited comeback effort, tentatively titled "Dark Matter Manifest". The band willl enter Horus Sound Studio in Hannover, Germany on August 1 to begin recording their first collection of new material since 1990's "Vanity/Nemesis". Songtitles set to appear on the CD include "Obscured", "Incantation against You", "Ain Elohim" and "Temple of Depression".

CELTIC FROST, who have been mixing new demo material at Oakland Recording in Winterthur, Switzerland, have yet to secure a record deal for their upcoming CD.
