CHTHONIC: Albuquerque OZZFEST Footage Available
July 30, 2007Fan-filmed video footage of Taiwanese black metallers CHTHONIC performing the song "Quasi Putrefaction" at the Albuquerque, New Mexico stop on the Ozzfest 2007 tour on July 26, 2007 has been posted on YouTube. Watch the clip below.
CHTHONIC — the first-ever Asian metal band to take part in Ozzfest — is currently in the midst of their first American tour, a two-month trek that will see them play more than 60 concerts across the country. The band is keeping a tour diary on its MySpace page. Also recently added to the group's MySpace page is a short film by esteemed Taiwanese motion picture director Cheng Wen-Tang ("The Passage", "Somewhere Over The Dreamland"). Inspired by the band's current "UNlimited Taiwan" tour — named to protest how the United Nations (UN) limits Taiwan's full participation as an independent country — the film shows stirring historical footage of Taiwanese citizens' fight for democratization accompanied a new, previously unreleased song that the band will perform at all of its upcoming tour dates.
The "UNlimited Taiwan" tour will become even more global in scope next month when CHTHONIC — whose 2002 release, "Relentless Recurrence", and last year's live DVD/CD "A Decade on the Throne" were recently released in America for the first time — will miss one Ozzfest stop in order to perform at Wacken Open Air, Germany's largest annual metal festival. CHTHONIC will then return to the U.S. for another six weeks of touring, to be followed by the group's first full European tour this fall.
