July 11, 2003COAL CHAMBER have officially split up, guitarist Miguel "Meegs" Rascon has confirmed in an online posting.
Writing on the official web site of his new band, PIÑATA, Meegs says, "After COAL CHAMBER, I went through a rough time, and having gone through that, I'm happy to have found five individuals [in my new band] that are not only musically talented, but have become my best friends. . . I apologize if we haven't answered all questions, but I promise we will in due time. In the future, I will discuss everything that happened with COAL CHAMBER, because there's alot of light that needs to be shed on the subject. I'm going to wait for the smoke to clear before I go further into COAL CHAMBER details. My time with [COAL CHAMBER] was one of the most fun and rewarding times of my life. However, it was time for everyone in [COAL CHAMBER] to move on.

The band are scheduled to make their live debut at the Troubadour in Hollywood, California in late August. Also set to appear on the bill are SURVE and PLACID.
