CONQUEST Returns With 'End Of Days'
August 16, 2008St. Louis metal merchants CONQUEST have returned with "End Of Days", their fifth album and debut for Chicago label Dark Star Records. The 11-song effort is the quartet's most versatile and accessible album to date with tracks ranging from the crushing "Annihilation Complete" (one of the band's most powerful live songs) to the anthemic "Walk Alone" straight to the more stripped down "Empty", which is a bit of a departure from the band's normal repertoire, lending itself to a wider audience.
Comprised of Derrick Brumley (lead vocals, guitar),Mike Crook (guitar),Tony Restivo (bass) and Tim Fleetwood (drums),CONQUEST came to life just as metal was on the downswing and burst onto a thriving St. Louis music scene with a determination and energy that would see the band tour the Midwest region and beyond building a loyal fanbase and leaving doubters in the wake. Releasing four albums independently throughout the '90s and into the early 21st century was a risky move for most metal bands, let alone one that funded everything out of their own pockets.
The band recently played two dates on the Jägermeister Music Tour and the Rockstar Mayhem Festival sharing the stage with acts such as TYPE O NEGATIVE, HATEBREED, SLIPKNOT, DISTURBED and MACHINE HEAD, among others.
"It's always a good time when we do dates on the Jager tour. We get to play alongside bands who have made the scene what it is as well as all the bands that are on the rise and see them before they break nationally," says Brumley. The Mayhem tour was especially great for us because we've always wanted to play with MACHINE HEAD and we were finally able to do so."
On September 27 Conquest heads to Indiana to play the Indianapolis Metalfest with the likes of KITTIE, GREEN JELLY, INTO ETERNITY and many others.
