COSMOSQUAD To Participate In Italy's GUITAR DAY
May 8, 2002L.A. fusion metallers COSMOSQUAD have been invited to participate in Guitar Day, a one-day guitar extravaganza that will take place on June 13th at Club Alpheus in Rome, Italy. Guitar Day will mark the first ever overseas live appearance for the band whose new album, Squadrophenia, is out now in Europe and North America and will see a Japanese release via Big M.F./ Zain on May 25th.
Closer to home, COSMOSQUAD will be at the Baked Potato, 3787 W. Cahuenga Blvd., Studio City on Monday, May 13th for a double header. Chris Maloney will be filling in for bassist Barry Sparks who has prior commitments with DOKKEN, starting May 16th in Liverpool, England. Similarly, drummer Shane Gaalaas will be off to Japan in June with superstars THE B'Z, also featuring bassist Billy Sheehan, whose national summer tour includes a co-headline appearance with AEROSMITH in celebration of the upcoming Soccer World Championships, the world's biggest sporting event.
In related news, COSMOSQUAD guitarist Jeff Kollman has just finished recording and producing an album with L.A. singer/songwriter, Rick Monroe. THE MONROE BAND, featuring Kollman, Chris Maloney, and SPEAK NO EVIL's Charlie Waymire on drums, will be doing a free show at Musicians Institute, 1655 McCadden Pl., Hollywood on Wednesday, May 15th. Showtime is 8:30 PM. The set will include four songs each from Monroe, the Kollman catalog, and Maloney's just-released Control solo album.
