COURTNEY LOVE And FRANCES COBAIN Pay Tribute To KURT COBAIN On His 51st Birthday
February 21, 2018According to The Pulse Of Radio, the widow and daughter of late NIRVANA frontman Kurt Cobain went online to wish him a happy birthday on Tuesday (February 20),on what would have been his 51st. Courtney Love took to social media early in the morning and shared a black-and-white photo of herself cuddling with her former husband, simply captioning the photo, "happy birthday baby god I miss you."
Frances Bean Cobain weighed in as well, writing, "I hope they don't have the internet wherever you are. I feel like that would be counterproductive. Regardless, Happy Birthday to an angel." She attached two photos — one of herself as a baby with her dad, another featuring a pensive Cobain in a BREEDERS T-shirt.
Kurt Cobain took his own life at his house in Seattle on April 5, 1994 at the age of 27. Frances was just two years old when she lost her father.
Kurt's biographer Charles R. Cross told The Pulse Of Radio that despite his problems and tragic end, Kurt Cobain's life story is strangely inspiring. "He was somebody that grew up in such a horrific situation, and in such an economically depressed world with a very difficult childhood, and yet he was able to get off his ass and write songs and create art," he said. "Despite all of Kurt's personal problems, of which there were many, I still see his life as some level of heroism that he was able to create so much and be courageous enough to put his pain into those songs."
Frances recently revealed that she has been sober for two years, saying that although she initially kept her sobriety private, she decided to share her story as it "might be informative, even helpful to other people who are going through something similar or different."
Both of Frances's parents publicly battled addiction. Kurt struggled with heroin and alcohol addiction up until his death, while Love spent several stints in rehab from the mid-'90s through the mid-2000s.
