COURTNEY LOVE To Get Multimillion-Dollar Advance For NIRVANA Releases

September 27, 2002

Under the terms of a settlement with Universal Music Group's Geffen Records over her highly publicized suit to get out of her recording contract, former HOLE frontwoman Courtney Love is expected to be released from her contract and will get a multimillion-dollar advance on the projected earnings of forthcoming NIRVANA archival releases, according to Billboard.com.

Meanwhile, the much-anticipated previously-unreleased NIRVANA track "You Know You're Right", which is expected to make an appearance on a "greatest hits" album and a more extensive box set, has surfaced all over the Internet and has been played on some U.S. radio stations. Geffen sent a cease-and-desist letter to Philadelphia's WPLY-FM, insisting that it stop playing the song.

WPLY has posted a copy of the cease-and-desist on its official web site, along with similar legal missives recently sent on behalf of PEARL JAM and AUDIOSLAVE.
