DAVE MUSTAINE On MEGADETH's Touring Lineup: 'These Guys Really Want To Be Here'
October 29, 2004MEGADETH mainman Dave Mustaine recently spoke to the Arizona Daily Star about the group's current touring lineup, which includes drummer Shawn Drover and guitarist Glen Drover from EIDOLON; and bass player James MacDonough (ex-ICED EARTH).
This new group was thrown together after squabbles with previous band members — including original bassist David Ellefson — led Mustaine to clean house.
"I have some great players on tour with me right now," he said. "I've had numerous incarnations of the group, and I think right now there's probably as much excitement and vim and vigor in the group as there has ever been. It's unlike anything I've done for a very long time because these guys really want to be here. It's not about 'what can I get out if it'; it's 'what can I bring.' "
Mustaine said the tour, which started Oct. 23 in Reno, will be the band's last.
"This is definitely it," he said. "Unless some freak accident happens and some of the old guys get hit in the head with meteors and their thinking changes, this tour is going to go around the world one last time to perform a farewell tour for MEGADETH's farewell record."
