DEAD KENNEDYS Announce Mexican Tour Dates
January 10, 2004DEAD KENNEDYS will play Mexico City and Monterey, Mexico for the first time ever. The Mexico City show will take place on January 31, 2004 at El Rayo and the Monterey date is set for February 1, 2004 at Café Iguana. Additionally, the band announced two dates in California to coincide with the Mexico shows. Stops include Santa Barbara at the Coach House North on January 23 and Malibu on January 24 at the Malibu Inn.
"Obviously the band is excited to play our first-ever shows in Mexico City and Monterey Mexico," DEAD KENNEDYS guitarist East Bay Ray said in a statement. "The popularity of DEAD KENNEDYS outside the United States is absolutely staggering to us. I've heard great things about the fans in Mexico City and Monterey as well. We are really excited to bring the bands message to our Mexican fans. In times like these, the band's message is more relevant than ever."
DEAD KENNEDYS, whose current lineup is completed by Klaus Flouride and D.H. Peligro along with Jeff Penalty, will release a new CD, "Live From The Deaf Club" (recorded in 1979),in March.
Penalty, a former member of VAZ HOIL & STUPID FERRETS, joined the DEAD KENNEDYS in July after previous singer, Brandon Cruz, left the punk group in order to spend more time with his family and work on his own material.
