DEICIDE Confirms Dates In Mexico And Costa Rica Despite Controversy
February 16, 2007Death metal stalwarts DEICIDE have confirmed March tour dates in Mexico and Costa Rica, despite current backlash from members of the Costa Rican churches and community over the band's visit to the country. Monsignor Jose Francisco Ulloa, president of the Episcopal Conference and bishop of Carthage, has openly spoken out against DEICIDE's visit to Costa Rica and has called on the community to aid in shutting down the show. The monsignor stated on America Radio that "We cannot allow a band like this to perform in our community. I believe that the town has the right to reject [the band's proposed performance]." A few locals have replied to this call with thoughtful and open-minded remarks, confirming that it should be the right of organizers to put on whatever concerts they want to despite the artists’ ideology. Unscathed, promoters confirm that the show will go on and DEICIDE will come to Costa Rica after a string of dates in Mexico. DEICIDE has also released "Doomsday L.A.", a live DVD featuring the all-new lineup and packed with bonus music videos for "Homage for Satan" and "Desecration".
