DELIAN LEAGUE Becomes THE NEW AFFLICTION

May 29, 2008

New Jersey-based metal band DELIAN LEAGUE has announced that it has changed its identity for the group's upcoming EP, "Before The Body Gets Cold", and will henceforth be known as THE NEW AFFLICTION. The EP will feature five brand-new songs, and introduce a new lineup. Three tracks from "Before The Body Gets Cold" will be available on their official MySpace site, which will launch May 30.

Drummer Joe Dooling commented on the upcoming changes: "We're all very excited to get this music out there. People have been waiting a long time for new music from us, and we're glad to be able to deliver it, along with a new name and new members to the lineup. Our singer and guitarist have contributed a lot, and what we've got now is very different from the DELIAN LEAGUE sound. It just makes more sense for all of us to look at this as an entirely different band rather than 'DELIAN LEAGUE Part Two.'

Joining Dooling on "Before The Body Gets Cold" are original DELIAN LEAGUE guitarist Rich Broadhead and bassist Shane Boulos. The band is rounded out by two new additions, guitarist Mike O'Neil and vocalist Chris Delaney. Former DELIAN LEAGUE guitarist Dave Hatfield also contributed to one song on the EP.

"It's been a long time in the making, and I think we've got a great balance going," said Delaney. "The new music is powerful and heavy enough to work people into a frenzy, but it's also melodic and meaningful enough for people to sing along with. We've also managed to stay technical and have hooks without being annoying and ADD."

Recorded at Factory Studios in the band's home base of East Rutherford, NJ, "Before The Body Gets Cold" is an introduction to the hard-hitting sound of THE NEW AFFLICTION. All recording, engineering and producing was handled by the band, with mixing by Brian Scaperrotta. THE NEW AFFLICION tapped graphic artist Levon Derkrikorian (THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER, IN FLAMES, SOILWORK) for the album art.

THE NEW AFFLICTION has released one song so far, "Not the Hero", on MySpace with more songs to follow over the next couple of months.

"The DELIAN LEAGUE MySpace will remain active as a tribute to all of the work the original lineup did, but from now on, updates will be on THE NEW AFFLICTION page," said Dooling. "Our fans' support has always been an inspiration to us, and we hope everyone enjoys the new band as much as we do."
