DEMIRICOUS Hard At Work On Debut Video
December 17, 2005Indianapolis-based death/thrash metal band DEMIRICOUS are currently working on their debut video for the track "Vagrant Idol" with acclaimed director Dale "Rage" Resteghini (HATEBREED, MUDVAYNE, ILL NINO, SHADOWS FALL). Co-directing is Resteghini's protégé Frankie Nasso (SWORN ENEMY, DANNY DIABLO, AUGUST BURNS RED). "I think we've got an ace in the hole with this one," commented DEMIRICOUS guitarist Ben Parrish. Added guitarist Scott Wilson: "I am excited to work with someone with so much experience."
The "Vagrant Idol" video demonstrates an assault on bourgeois society — taking revenge over corporations' corrupt CEOs who are leaving their employees broke and overworked while they overspend in ridiculous ways. "The song stems from personal experience and is about a character that doesn't have anything but knows that he doesn't need material things to be happy," explained DEMIRICOUS vocalist/bassist Nate Olp.
"Vagrant Idol" was scheduled to be shot Friday, December 16 outdoors in Queens, NY. DEMIRICOUS even recruited a crew of disgruntled citizens to join them in the complete destruction and annihilation of a luxury car during the filming of the video.
"I don't want this video to be all glitz and glam," explained Wilson. "Hopefully this video will capture the essence of the band and be as real and raw as we are."
As previously reported, two songs from DEMIRICOUS's upcoming Metal Blade Records debut, "One (Hellbound)" — "Vagrant Idol" and "To Serve Is To Destroy" — have been posted online at this location. The album was recorded in June 2005 at Planet Z studios with producer Zeuss (HATEBREED, SHADOWS FALL). A January 24, 2006 release is expected.
The band had previously stated about the upcoming CD: "We are just trying to write a solid thrash album and we hope to add something different to today's metal scene. I don't know what direction we are going in but not a whole lot of bands are going this direction. We are just playing the music that we want to hear. Plain and simple."
