DEVILDRIVER Hires DAATH's KEVIN TALLEY For OZZFEST
July 20, 2008DEVILDRIVER, the Santa Barbara, California-baed band led by former COAL CHAMBER frontman Dez Fafara, has issued the following update:
"An experienced touring and session drummer in the metal scene, Kevin Talley will be joining us for Ozzfest. Talley recently finished a new record with his current band DAATH, due out this fall. He has recorded and/or toured with DYING FETUS, CHIMAIRA, THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER, THE RED CHORD, HATE ETERNAL, M.O.D., MISERY INDEX and SUFFOCATION."
Ozzfest organizers confirmed earlier in May through a post at the official web site that the festival, a touring event for more than a decade, will transform into a "destination festival" this summer. OZZY OSBOURNE and METALLICA will headline the event on August 9 at Pizza Hut Park in Dallas. Also appearing on the main stage are SERJ TANKIAN, KORN singer Jonathan Davis, HELLYEAH, CAVALERA CONSPIRACY, SHADOWS FALL, APOCALYPTICA, IN THIS MOMENT and what's being billed as an "all-star tribute" to slain PANTERA and DAMAGEPLAN guitarist "Dimebag" Darrell Abbott.
DEVILDRIVER's current studio album, "The Last Kind Words", sold a little more than 14,000 copies during its first week of release to debut at No. 48 on The Billboard 200 chart. This figure represented around a 40 percent increase over the opening-week number of 2005's "The Fury of Our Maker's Hand", which premiered at No. 177 with sales of 10,400.
