DISTURBED Frontman On OZZFEST: 'Everything Has A Lifespan And It Went Out With A Bang'
May 14, 2008Even though DISTURBED is still in the midst of its spring headlining trek to promote the upcoming June 3 release of the band's fourth album, "Indestructible", singer David Draiman told The Pulse of Radio that he and the rest of the band are already looking forward to their co-headlining stint on this summer's inaugural Rockstar Energy Mayhem tour. "We're very, very much looking forward to it, you know," he said. "This is a monster movie bill. You can't ask for better. We love all the guys who are on the tour. We know most of them personally. We're good friends with the SLIPKNOT guys, the MACHINE HEAD guys, we know the guys from MASTODON...it's gonna be a summer camp vibe again, like old-school Ozzfest."
Along with co-headliners SLIPKNOT, the Mayhem lineup includes MACHINE HEAD, DRAGONFORCE, MASTODON, AIRBOURNE, FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH, BLACK TIDE and others.
As for Ozzfest itself, the once-mighty festival has now become a one-day "destination event" scheduled for August 9 in Dallas. DISTURBED was an Ozzfest staple for many years, but Draiman said that nothing lasts forever. "Well, you know something, I mean it's been the seminal breeding ground for many a hard rock and metal band, so yeah, I am sad to see it go," he told The Pulse of Radio. "But, you know, everything has a lifespan and I think that it went out with a bang, and I think the show in Dallas is going to be something to remember."
The Rockstar Energy Mayhem tour kicks off on July 9 in Seattle.
DISTURBED will take part in what's billed as a free online global concert series with a live performance on May 29 at DeepRockDrive.com.
The group's current headlining tour brings the band to Cincinnati on Wednesday (May 14).
