DON ARDEN's Autobiography To Be Published In April

Don Arden's much-anticipated autobiography, "Mr. Big", has been pushed back to an April 2004 publication date via Robson Books.

Arden, one of the earliest and most notorious managers of the rock 'n' roll era and father of Sharon Osbourne, wife/manager of former BLACK SABBATH singer Ozzy Osbourne, was frequently accused of violent, bullying tactics by his artists.

Dubbed the "Godfather Of Rock" and the "Al Capone of Pop" by the world's press, the legendarily heavy-handed and confrontational svengali manager of GENE VINCENT, THE SMALL FACES and, later, BLACK SABBATH, released Ozzy Osbourne's early solo output through his own Jet Records before the label went out of business in 1986.

"Mr. Big" by Don Arden (with Mick Wall) sheds light on Arden's fascinating life story — from what drove Don Arden to be the most powerful, influential and renowned manager in the music business, to and why he became so feared and infamous. Although Sharon and her father had been estranged for years after Sharon took over from Arden as Ozzy Osbourne's manager in 1982, they reportedly patched things up after the tragic events of September 11, 2001.

As the story goes, when Sharon asked her father if she could become Ozzy's manager, Don refused, so Sharon had to buy out Ozzy's management contract for approximately $1.5 million. This business deal caused a bitter rift between father and daughter and created a huge financial burden for Sharon, who says she was broke for many years until she and Ozzy made enough money to get out of debt.
