DOWN/CROWBAR's KIRK WINDSTEIN Auctioning ESP LTD VIPER 1000 Guitar

September 9, 2010

Kirk Windstein of DOWN, CROWBAR and KINGDOM OF SORROW is selling a ESP LTD Viper 1000 guitar on eBay. According to a posting on the auction page, "This guitar was played in countless shows around the world with DOWN, CROWBAR and KINGDOM OF SORROW."

The auction is scheduled to end on September 13 at 11:57 PDT.

Windstein recently sat out KINGDOM OF SORROW's participation in this year's Ozzfest in order to focus on his newfound sobriety. He said in a statement, "I have entered the AA program and am turning over a new leaf. 25 years of gigging and touring has taken its toll and my drinking is now preventing me from being the healthiest, best player that I can be.

"It's been a fun ride, but I'm ready to tackle this sober and look forward to being at the top of my game with all of my projects!"

Windstein was temporarily replaced for the Ozzfest dates by Kenny Hickey of TYPE O NEGATIVE.

CROWBAR recently entered the studio to begin recording its new album for an early 2001 release via E1 Music.

The band will perform on October 1 at The Hangar in New Orleans, Louisiana. Also scheduled to appear on the bill are WARBEAST and haarp.

CROWBAR will re-release three of its influential records — "Crowbar", "Live +1" and "Time Heals Nothing" — on October 5, 2010. These three albums are the band’s core titles and have influenced many of today's major metal acts, including LAMB OF GOD and HATEBREED. With each title originally being released in the early Nineties, this will be the first time all three records will be widely available in stores.
