DREAM THEATER Keyboardist Honors JOHN LENNON
October 14, 2010In honor of John Lennon's 70th birthday, keyboardist Jordan Rudess of progressive metal giants DREAM THEATER got inspired to sit down and play "Imagine". He says, "Such a beautiful song, written by someone who had such an incredibly meaningful life. The message is timeless..."
Footage of the performance, which was filmed with Rudess' Zoom Q3 video camera and played on his Steinway D, can be viewed below.
As previously reported, MorphWiz — the synth app by Jordan Rudess with chief programmer Kevin Chartier — won first place in the category of "Best Music Creation App" in the Billboard Music App Awards.
MorphWiz is partly inspired by the highly successful Haken Continuum Fingerboard, a radically innovative and revolutionary MIDI instrument that Jordan uses on stage and in the studio with DREAM THEATER. Like the Continuum, Jordan Rudess' MorphWiz is a vertical grid-based musical instrument that allows a whole new level of expressive control. Within days of its initial release on the iPad, MorphWiz reached #1 in the United States iPad music section of Apple's App store.
