DROWNING POOL Has Second Version Of 'Stitches' Sewn Up
May 18, 2009The Pulse of Radio reports: DROWNING POOL is still climbing the Top 10 at rock radio with "37 Stitches", a song that first appeared on the group's 2007 album, "Full Circle". But another version of the track, an acoustic take, can also be found on the recently released live effort, "Loudest Common Denominator". Guitarist C.J. Pierce told The Pulse of Radio how it came about. "We had talked about doing it," he said. "We started doing it on tour for 'Full Circle'. Whenever we had an opportunity to do something acoustic, that's usually one of the songs we'd pull out. And we had played it so much and got a good response just from doing it on the fly, that we were like, 'Man, we really need to lay this down.' And then once we laid it down, we didn't know, you know, when we'd ever get to use it. And then the opportunity came up to do the live record, so it just seemed like a perfect spot to stick it on there."
DROWNING POOL will join MÖTLEY CRÜE, GODSMACK, THEORY OF A DEADMAN and CHARM CITY DEVILS on Crüe Fest 2, which kicks off on July 19 in Camden, New Jersey.
Singer Ryan McCombs recently told The Pulse of Radio that the band is working on material for its fourth studio album.
McCombs will be the first DROWNING POOL frontman to sing on two records. Original vocalist Dave Williams died from heart disease in 2002. His replacement, Jason "Gong" Jones, only appeared on the band's second album.
Road Crew Magazine conducted an interview with DROWNING POOL bassist Stevie Benton and vocalist Ryan McCombs on April 13, 2009 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Watch the chat below.
