EVANESCENCE Performs New Single Live On MTV; Video Available
August 8, 2011EVANESCENCE performed its new single, "What You Want", live for the first time anywhere earlier tonight (Monday, August 8) on MTV as part of the "MTV First: Evanescence" event. And immediately following that performance, the whole band sat down for an exclusive interview and question-and-answer session that streamed live on MTV.com. You can now watch video footage of the event below.
Although she was talking about making an electronic/dance album just last year, EVANESCENCE singer Amy Lee seems to have put that behind her once and for all. Not only is the new EVANESCENCE record reportedly the band's heaviest yet, but Lee told MTV News that fans will get more of the same when the band tours this fall. She said, "It's just going to be straight-up rock. Big energy. This album is just a fast-paced rock ride . . . We've got three albums now to pull from so, of course, we want to play the new ones but, of course, we're going to play the old ones too. It's going to be a lot."
The new, self-titled EVANESCENCE album, the band's first in five years, is due out October 11. The CD was recorded at Nashville's Blackbird Studio with producer Nick Raskulinecz (RUSH, FOO FIGHTERS, VELVET REVOLVER, DEATH ANGEL, TRIVIUM).
The group recorded a total of 16 tracks for the record, and all 16 will appear on a deluxe edition of the disc.
Lee began recording an album last year with producer Steve Lillywhite (DAVE MATTHEWS BAND, U2) that leaned heavily in the direction of electronic and dance music, but her label reportedly rejected that project and made her start from scratch on a more traditional EVANESCENCE offering.
EVANESCENCE will play its first U.S. show in two years on August 17 in Nashville, with the full North American road trip tentatively scheduled to begin sometime around the album's release.
