EVERY TIME I DIE Singer Says He Was Fooled Into Believing JUDAS PRIEST Were Heterosexual
April 22, 2004Keith Buckley, lead singer for the Buffalo, N.Y., hardcore band EVERY TIME I DIE, has told the Quad-City Times that playing this year's Ozzfest will give him another chance to be betrayed by his gut feelings.
"It's going to be exciting playing on the same stage with some of the bands we were fooled into believing were totally heterosexual bands when we were younger," he said. "Like JUDAS PRIEST. I also listened to a lot of QUEEN, but I don't know if Freddie Mercury had anyone fooled. You've just got to scratch your head and wonder if people were fooled."
According to Buckley, one of his band's glaring faults is their awkwardness with people. They're often forced to launch a preemptive, self-sabotaging strike when around new people so they won't be foiled by their own social misfortunes later.
"We’re absolutely, totally maladjusted. We’re just not as good at reading people as we should be," he told the Quad-City Times. "We always try to make ourselves look stupid first.
"There's a theme that underlies all of our tours. We like to stay with people and the one thing you always hear is, 'I only live 10 minutes away.' And you always follow for at least 45 minutes. Then they'll say, 'I just have one pet,' which is fine, but by one pet, she meant six ferrets. We should know how to read these kids better than that. We all have colds because we stayed with someone with bronchitis." [Read more]
