EVILE Guitarist OL DRAKE Discusses Influences, Plays Favorite Solos
October 2, 2008Bands are often asked about their influences, and for Ol Drake, lead guitarist of UK thrashers EVILE, this is something he's been getting a lot of since EVILE became one of the most talked-about modern thrash bands.
Ol explains: "The one thing people always ask me at shows is, 'Who is your favorite guitarist?' or 'what's your favorite guitar solo?', so I thought I'd make a few videos to show people my favorites, my influences and me just playing what I like to play when I'm messing around on the axe.
"Included is work by Jeff Waters (ANNIHILATOR) who was probably the biggest influence to me on guitar, Marty Friedman (MEGADETH) who made me re-evaluate my approach to playing rhythm and lead, and Kirk Hammett (METALLICA) who originally opened me up (ooh matron) to playing lead guitar."
