Ex-GUNS N' ROSES Drummer Recording With MEDICATION, AMEN Skinsman To Fill In During Live Shows
February 26, 2002Former GUNS N' ROSES and current A PERFECT CIRCLE drummer Josh Freese is sitting behind the kit during the recording sessions for MEDICATION's full-length debut, according to the group's management. Although AMEN sticksman Shannon Larkin was strongly rumored to be playing the drums on the upcoming CD, it now appears that Larkin will only handle the drumming duties during the band's upcoming live performances until the group have secured a permanent replacement for the recently-departed Roy Mayorga (currently in SOULFLY). MEDICATION, who feature in their ranks former MACHINE HEAD/SOULFLY guitarist Logan Mader, ex-UGLY KID JOE/LIFE OF AGONY vocalist Whitfield Crane, ex-ADAYINTHELIFE guitarist Blunt, and ex-THE PIECE DOGS bassist Kyle Sanders, will issue their long-awaited five-song EP through Locomotive Music on April 2nd, to be followed by the aforementioned full-length on June 22nd. The first single from the EP, "Inside", will be released to radio in the coming weeks.
The full track listing for the EP is as follows:
01. Something New
02. Underwater
03. Inside
04. No Direction
05. Need to Never
MEDICATION will be performing a one-off show at Domsport in Köln-Deutz, Germany on March 19th, to be followed by a gig at the Key club in West Hollywood, California on March 23rd.
Although MEDICATION have yet to find a permanent replacement for Mayorga, they have been auditioning a host of drummers in the recent weeks, including current STRIFE/DOWNSET/BLUE MURDER skinsman Aaron “Fat Beat” Rossi, who was previously reported (apparently erroneously) to have landed the spot.
