Ex-PITCHSHIFTER Singer J.S. CLAYDEN: 'DOHENY Is About Energy And Positivity'
May 24, 2004DOHENY frontman J.S. Clayden (ex-PITCHSHIFTER) recently spoke to the Reaktiv Zone web site about the group's current activities and future plans. Asked what their main influences are and what inspires their in their song, Clayden replied, "DOHENY is all about energy and emotion. Influences we have range from LED ZEPPELIN to INCUBUS, DEFTONES to STONE TEMPLE PILOTS. We just tried to make some real tunes that you can actually sing to without any Pro Tools magic. No smoke, no mirrors. Just men and guitars. You can actually play a lot of these songs acoustically and they sound good (not that we do, because we like everything on 10, but hey — you could). What inspires us? I guess I would say for me DOHENY is about heartfelt lyrics that give a big middle finger to the haters. Positive energy with a touch of sarcasm for good measure. Shit, it's life!"
With regards to his current and future projects, Clayden said, "Right now we are in the dreaded shopping-for-a-deal process. [laughs] We are just concentrating on having fun and playing good shows at the moment. If you get too embroiled in the business, I find it sucks away all your creativity. I have other avenues for all that crap. DOHENY is about energy and positivity and damn fine rockin' tunes. When the right deal finds us we'll grab it. Future projects? Convincing the world to dig DOHENY!" Read more.
DOHENY's current lineup is rounded out by ex-THE CULT touring bassist Billy Morrison (on guitar),rhythm guitarist Sean Kipe, bassist Tony Freddo and drummer Colin LaRocque.
