Ex-YNGWIE MALMSTEEN Singer MARK BOALS Records Guest Appearance For Japanese Guitarist
July 17, 2004Former YNGWIE MALMSTEEN/current RING OF FIRE vocalist Mark Boals recently recorded two songs for young Japanese guitarist named Takayoshi Omura. Omura's debut album, entitled "Nowhere To Go", features additional guest appearances by Doogie White (YNGWIE MALMSTEEN, CORNERSTONE, ex-RAINBOW) and Richie Kotzen (ex-MR. BIG, POISON). An August 25 release through Yamaha Music in Japan is expected.
Omura will be performing a showcase gig at Club Citta in Tokyo, Japan on September 6 and Mark will appear as a guest musician at the show.
Commented Boals: "After I was asked by the representatives of Omura, I listened to his demo. I thought his music was good and he has a talent to play guitar, and I thought it'd be great to support this young Japanese musician. I also thought it would be great to share the vocals with the other singers, Richie Kotzen and Doogie White, so I recorded two songs here in L.A. and sent them to Japan. Later, Omura's representative came to L.A. and asked if I could sing at his show, which will be held in September in Japan. After I sought some advice, I decided to sing at the show. I think it's a good opportunity to support a talented Japanese musician and to go to Japan to sing live on stage. I also can see my fans after such a long time!! I'm also looking forward to seeing my friend Doogie White!"
RING OF FIRE's new album, "Lapse of Reality", is scheduled for release on July 22 through Japan's King Records. The follow-up to 2002's "Dreamtower" will be packaged in a printed box and come with a sticker. The album was recorded by Boals at Skunk Studio in Burbank, CA and was mixed by Robert Francesco at Studio One in Burbank.
