FEAR FACTORY: 'Transgression' Fails To Live Up To Expectations
August 31, 2005FEAR FACTORY's latest CD, "Transgression", sold 19,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release (according to Nielsen SoundScan) to debut at position No. 45 on next week's The Billboard 200 chart. This is substantially less than the first-week number registered by its predecessor, "Archetype", which sold 32,000 copies back in April 2004 to enter the Billboard chart at No. 30.
FEAR FACTORY entered Track Record Studios in North Hollywood, California on May 5 with producer Toby Wright (ALICE IN CHAINS, KORN, SOULFLY) to begin recording the follow-up to "Archetype". In addition to Wright, there is a list of guest musicians collaborating on "Transgression", including bass player Billy Gould of FAITH NO MORE fame. Billy contributes to two songs: "Echo of My Scream" and "Supernova". Also included on "Transgression" is "New Promise", which was co-written with Mark Morton of LAMB OF GOD.
