FILTER Raising Money For Tour Through Crowdfunding
June 14, 2013According to The Pulse Of Radio, FILTER has just launched a campaign through the international crowdfunding site Indiegogo to raise money that will help offset the costs of the band's world tour in support of its new album, "The Sun Comes Out Tonight". Fans can head to Indiegogo now and bid on a number of VIP incentives, ranging from a minimal $10 digital download of the new record to a $3,500 package that includes a signed guitar, VIP backstage access, drum heads, a gold vinyl record and a T-shirt.
Other incentives include the chance to have coffee with frontman Richard Patrick when he comes to a venue near you, a Skype session with the full band, the opportunity to create your own set list for the group to play and joining Patrick's postcard club, through which you'll receive hand-written postcards from the frontman every month for the rest of the year.
The group hopes to raise $40,000, all of which will go toward touring costs. Patrick said in a statement, "Over the last couple of months we have observed the success that this method has produced for several bands and artists alike. It's an unusual method, but it's a new method and it seems this is a way for us to connect with you, our fans, on a much more personal level. We like that."
Patrick told The Pulse Of Radio that playing new songs in front of an audience is what it's all about for him. "You know, we played Rockville (festival) and I didn't announce that we were playing any new stuff until after we played it," he said. "Halfway through the song, they're moshing, going crazy, and stuff's being thrown around and, you know, the kids are just having the best time. We want that initial reaction where, you know, everyone's feeling it and just immediately identifies with it, and that's what every musician wants, you know."
"The Sun Comes Out Tonight" arrived in stores on June 4 and sold 8,000 copies in its first week of release.
The follow-up to 2010's "The Trouble With Angels" is the first release through the group's new deal with Wind-Up Records. The first single, "What Do You Say", recently landed in the Top 25 on the Active Rock radio chart.
FILTER is on the road now, splitting its time between headlining shows and dates on the Summerland Tour with LIVE and EVERCLEAR. The band plays Friday night (June 14) in Moncton, Nebraska.
