FOO FIGHTERS Unlikely To Topple TAYLOR SWIFT From Top Of BILLBOARD Chart

According to The Pulse Of Radio, the new FOO FIGHTERS album, "Sonic Highways", is unlikely to topple Taylor Swift's latest effort, 1989, from the top of the Billboard 200 album chart this week. "Sonic Highways" is expected to debut at No. 2 on the chart with first-week sales of around 190,000 copies. That won't be enough to overcome Swift, whose new disc is predicted to sell around 300,000 copies to notch its third week in the top spot.

The complete chart will be released on Wednesday morning (November 19).

The previous FOO FIGHTERS album, 2011's "Wasting Light", was its first No. 1, selling 235,000 copies in its first week.

"Sonic Highways" was recorded in eight American cities: Austin, Chicago, Los Angeles, Nashville, New Orleans, New York, Seattle and Washington, D.C.

Bassist Nate Mendel told The Pulse Of Radio that the process of recording "on the road" brought the band members closer together. "People's families came out here and there, but mostly it was us out doing our thing," he said. "That's actually part of what I liked about it — like when we first went to Chicago, you know, record during the day, go out to the bar at night, just walk down the streets of the thing, it almost felt like having a regular nine-to-five job there for a minute. We were stuck with each other a little bit more than normal in the recording process and that's kind of nice. It was one of the things about it that made it different and a little bit more interesting."

The project was launched last month with a companion eight-part HBO series about the recording of the album. The band unveiled new songs each week in sync with the series, which premiered October each.
