Former DAMAGEPLAN Frontman Says 'Lack Of Education' Is Humanity's Biggest Disaster
October 12, 2005Former DAMAGEPLAN frontman/HALFORD guitarist Patrick Lachman has once again responded to the critical comments posted on BLABBERMOUTH.NET with regards to JUDAS PRIEST frontman Rob Halford allegedly losing his voice during the group's October 9 performance in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
In an October 10 report submitted to BLABBERMOUTH.NET, a reader calling himself "Fullshred" wrote about PRIEST's Atlantic City concert, "About four songs into their set, Rob Halford came on stage with a mug of some liquid. While he was sipping away, he explained to the audience that he was suffering from a case of influenza. By the song 'Breaking the Law', he was looking for some breathing room for his voicebox. By the time he got to 'Screaming for Vengeance' he had pretty much lost his voice and it became an 'audience participation' rendition, waving the crowd on to sing for him. It was very obvious that he was struggling for most of the night to get the lyrics out and couldn't wait for the show to be over."
Responding to the above article in an October 11 posting on the official message board of his new band, THE MERCY CLINIC, Lachman wrote, "Big fucking deal! It can happen to anyone. [Rob] could have cancelled and chose to push on for the fans' sake. People just want to kick you when you're down. They don't bother to report every time he has a great show and the fact that he's been setting the benchmark for 30 fucking years! It's not news, just an opportunity for mindless little idiots to post fag jokes on a thread that shouldn't be there in the first place. Most of the twats that sit there and compete 24/7 for 'first post!' don't even realize they are gayer than Rob. Fuck the haters. The Metal God rules all. Period. End of rant."
Earlier today (October 12),Lachman took an opportunity to elaborate further on his previous remarks and respond to the BLABBERMOUTH.NET detractors who have posted scathingly negative comments about him and Halford on this site:
"Once again, the unintelligent represented themselves and reinforced my point for me," Lachman wrote. "They didn't (or couldn't) understand what I wrote. One guy said my post was 'confusing.' Sad, isn't it. I though I was pretty clear. More first posts and fag jokes. Brilliant! Hell, they even took to bashing Dime on a Rob Halford thread.
"Too many critics out there. I'm sure they sound great singing in the shower at grandma's house. It takes a lot more than you think to get in front of 20,000 people and throw down, much less if you're under the weather. I'd pay to see any of those 'critics' try and squak out a single tune on thier BEST night at a karaoke bar. I'm sure they'd get pelted off the 18 inch stage!
"Funny thing is, I didn't even read this on Blabbermouth. It was posted as the start of this thread, so I replied to it. I put my thoughts on my own site and if other sites pick it up, big fuckin deal. My comments are for you guys here on this site. Some people failed to realize this, furthering my declining hope for the global IQ. Maybe it's time we start raising money for the biggest disaster out there we constantly ignore — LACK OF EDUCATION...."
