Former MEGADETH Drummer, LIZZY BORDEN Bassist Jam With XYZ
June 30, 2003Former MEGADETH drummer Nick Menza and LIZZY BORDEN bassist Marten Andersson were set to perform session duties with XYZ during the latter band's previously announced tour with GREAT WHITE and L.A. GUNS when they got word that the trek was called off due to insurance issues.
Says Andersson, "As some of you might have heard Nick Menza and I went down and jammed with XYZ to fill in with the band on the upcoming nationwide charity tour. Unfortunately the tour has now been called off because of insurance issues with GREAT WHITE.
"The jam sounded great and the 'ZY' guys are super cool, it would have been a very heavy show," Marten added. "I played my 8-string bass with Ampeg amps on 10 (11!) and Nick 'Fucking' Menza just pounding those drums like his life depended on it. This cat is one of the hardest hitting drummers in the world."
LIZZY BORDEN are in the midst of rehearsing guitar players to replace Alex Nelson, who left the band in April. The group hope to record a new studio album later in the year for an early 2004 release.
