Former MEGADETH Guitarist Pays Tribute To JASON BECKER
January 7, 2003Former MEGADETH guitarist Marty Friedman has issued the following statement regarding his recent tribute to ex-DAVE LEE ROTH axeman Jason Becker via a performance of Becker's "End Of The Beginning" concerto with the San Francisco Community Center Orchestra And Chorus:
"Thanks to everyone who showed up at the two New Years shows in San Francisco. The shows were great and it was a lot of fun to play with a full orchestra. It was also cool to be able to introduce some of my fans (who learned about the shows via this site) to the one and only Jason Becker who showed up at the second show. Jason told me that it was way cool to have me play his music at these events and that was good enough for me. Hopefully we can do more stuff like this in the future. I can even think of some of my music that could do well to be played by an orchestra..."
In other news, Friedman offered the following answer when asked recently for his opinion of former MEGADETH drummer Nick Menza's much-maligned solo debut, "Life After Deth": "Nick is a very talented individual. I can say for sure that his CD is exactly what I remember his music sounding like. It's very 'Nick'. I wish him all the best."
