Former WHITESNAKE/THE FIRM Bassist To Perform With VASCO ROSSI At Free Italian Concert

Bassist Tony Franklin (THE FIRM, WHITESNAKE) will perform with Italian rock star VASCO ROSSI at the traditional Italian free mega-concert on May 1 at Piazza San Giovanni in Rome. Also scheduled to appear are EDOARDO BENNATO, CAPAREZZA, NOMADI, BANDABARDÒ, MOTEL CONNECTION and ASIAN DUB FOUNDATION. The festival will be presented by actor and director Sergio Castellitto.

Around one million of people are expected to attend the free event, which will be broadcast live by Italian public television RaiTre.

Franklin will temporarily replace bassist Claudio "Il Gallo" Golinelli, who is recovering from some health issues.

Franklin played bass on several songs on the last two Vasco Rossi studio albums, 2005's "Buoni o Cattivi" and 2008's "Il Mondo Che Vorrei".

Rossi's band also features guitarists Stef Burns (Y&T) and Maurizio Solieri, drummer Matt Laug (SLASH'S SNAKEPIT),Alberto "Lupo Maremmano" Rocchetti (keyboards),Andrea "Cucchia" Innesto (trumpet, background vocals),Frank Nemola (programming, trumpet, background vocals) and Clara Moroni (background vocals).
