FOZZY/STUCK MOJO Guitarist RICH WARD Nearly Done With DUKE Record
February 5, 2005FOZZY/STUCK MOJO guitarist Rich Ward has issued the following update on the recording process for his solo record (under the DUKE banner) and the rehearsal sessions for the upcoming FOZZY/STUCK MOJO European dates:
"The last month has been intense and I now know that humans can be productive on only three hours of sleep a night. The usual schedule had been, up at 7:30 am to listen to the previous nights work and to do editing at home on my recording rig, then leave the house at 10:00 am for the studio. Shawn Grove (studio engineer) and I would get started at 11:00 am and work until we lost our ability to determine the difference between SLAYER and ABBA. That would usually be around 4:00 am. I have an hour-long ride home, putting me in bed around 5:15 am. We did stop to eat, but never left the studio. We just ordered out or ate pretzels and humus.
"This is where we stand on the DUKE record; 10 songs were recorded and eight are completely finished. One of the remaining songs needs to have the verse vocals re-cut and the other track needs all vocals to be recorded. My last day in the studio before going to Europe is Sunday, working with a mixer named Blake Eisman, who is up for a Grammy for mixing the new USHER record. I'm going to take those mixes with me to Europe and live with them for the three weeks. When I get back, I'll head back to the studio to make any changes that I think need to be made. At that point, she'll be ready.
"The only flaw in the recording process has been my ability to multitask. Until this week, I have not set foot in the gym in a month, with the exception of the hotel gym in Anaheim two weeks ago. While I've been working on the DUKE record, the band has been getting ready for the tour and rehearsing without me. We finally started full MOJO and FOZZY rehearsals this week and I must say the MOJO material sounds really good and better than I expected after such a long break. Dare I say that we don't seemed to have missed a step. We are all really excited about the tour and look forward to catching up with all of our old friends from across the pond."
