GODSMACK Manager Teams Up With IRVING AZOFF
October 17, 2005According to The Boston Globe, GODSMACK manager Paul Geary of Global Artist Management is leaving his home state of Massachusetts and heading west, where he'll be working alongside music mogul Irving Azoff. The longtime manager of the EAGLES and, more recently, CHRISTINA AGUILERA and JEWEL, Azoff bought Geary's company, but asked him to stay on the job. "He's a great guy," Geary — who scored two Top 10 hits with his hard rock band EXTREME — says of the man nicknamed "the poison dwarf" for his no-nonsense business style. "Irving is really a legendary figure." Wined and dined after being introduced to Azoff by the William Morris Agency's Peter Grosslight, the 44-year-old Geary said he's not worried about losing creative control of the company he started. "These guys aren't going to buy a dog and then bark for him," he said. ''They brought me in to do what I do. They'll attract bigger talent for me, and I'll represent them. . . . It makes perfect sense."
